Carrying On The Broomball Tradition!
We took to the ice last Sunday for our annual broomball game! It was a great turnout this year and we had a lot of fun! The tradition of playing broomball on an indoor ice rink, frozen pond and now outdoor hockey rink has continued for over 20 years when the game was started with Bob Swanson. Now friends and family come out each year to play broomball. We would like to thank everyone who came out (veteran players and new players) and played broomball with us! We had a great time and can’t wait to play again this winter!
What is Broomball? Broomball is a winter sport played in ice arenas and community parks throughout the country. It is a game very similar to hockey in its formation and rules, but also incorporates some soccer strategies. Each player uses a stick (a shaft with a molded broom-shaped head or plastic ends shaped like brooms) to maneuver a six-inch diameter ball up and down the ice. Instead of skates, players wear spongy-soled shoes to gain traction when running on the slippery surface.
Our Broomball game is becoming even more popular in the Crystal Lake Area, check out Lauren Elizabeth Fine Art’s article: https://www.laurenelizabethfineart.com/home/2018/1/8/wait-before-acting!
